Project Name: Construction of Lweya Irrigation Scheme

Scope of Work: This project consisted of construction of weir structure with gates for intake at the source. There was a construction of approach chamber for pump and generator house. The construction of main canal was done using RCC concrete lining, comprised of 450mm PVC pipes and it was 10 km long. The secondary canal comprised of 250mm PVC pipes on Earth. Different form of pipework canal was constructed and was 4.2 km long. There were several bridges and road crossing constructed across the canal. Apart from the irrigation related work, there was land preparation of around 357 hectors. The preparation consisted of ripping, ploughing and middle degree levelling. There was also a construction of warehouse and flood protection barrier. Other structure construction includes pit latrine, roads along the canal, drains, culverts crossing and structural gates.
